(CNN) – White House spokesman Jay Carney seems to have a new favorite strategy for ending heated exchanges with reporters in the press briefing room.
For the second time this month, Carney on Thursday challenged a reporter to a debate on CNN's "Crossfire."

FULL STORYCNN today confirmed it will accelerate the launch plans for Crossfire. In light of rapidly changing events impacting the American response to the Syrian humanitarian crisis, the premiere has been moved forward to Monday, September 9 at 6:30pm ET.
CNN announced that Crossfire, hosted by Newt Gingrich, Stephanie Cutter, S.E. Cupp and Van Jones, will debut Monday, Sept 16 at 6:30 p.m. ET.
The classic debate program will resemble the show's original format with passionate conversation and focus on topical events of the day. The daily, 30-minute program will feature two hosts and guests each night, discussing a range of issues from all sides of the political and cultural spectrum. In addition to the weekday show, the Crossfire co-hosts will appear across the network's programming.

Washington (CNN) – An institution is coming back to CNN.
“Crossfire,” the long-running political debate show that aired on CNN from 1982-2005, is getting a reboot, the news network announced Wednesday. Four new hosts – two on the left, and two on the right - will debut the program this fall.
