Texas Governor vs. President Obama on immigration

Texas Gov. Rick Perry and others are lashing out at President Barack Obama's decision not to tour border facilities overwhelmed by a flood of undocumented children, saying the U.S. leader needs to see with his own eyes what both sides agree is a humanitarian crisis.

"The American people expect to see their President when there is a disaster," Perry told CNN's Kate Bolduan in an interview that aired Thursday, citing Obama's trip to the East Coast to tour damage caused by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. "He showed up at Sandy. Why not Texas?"

  1. The GOP Solution

The GOP Prayer/Mantra/Solution: Dear God...With your loving kindness, help us to turn all the Old, Sick, Poor, Non-white, Non-christian, Female, and Gay people into slaves. Then, with your guidance and compassion, we will whip them until they are Young, Healthy, Rich, White, Christian, Male, and Straight. Or until they are dead. God...Grant us the knowledge to then turn them into Soylent Green to feed the military during the next "unfunded/off-the-books" war. God...Give us the strength during our speeches to repeatedly yell........TAX CUTS FOR THE RICH!!!..........and........GET RID OF SS AND MEDICARE!!!
In your name we prey (purposely misspelled, or is it?)........Amen

Perry saw an opening in the Immigration mess that actually Bush and this Congress got us into and Perry bit at his chance and he got his 15 seconds of fame, before he made himself and the Right look like the fools they all are. Now Mr. Perry, let the experts that actually know what they are doing in life, take care of business...Thank You

When are our frigging idiotic traitorous "leaders" ACTUALLY going to do something about this? – How many more years do they think that they can keep stalling for? – And yes – I'm Angry with Both Parties – As are most American Citizens right now!

We STILL need to Stop Illegal Aliens from just flooding into our country! – First of all they're unauthorized foreigners or illegal aliens. – They are not just "undocumented immigrants". – They are intruders! – And based upon that truth, they have no constitutional rights in our country.

Illegal "immigrants" – They're not just doing jobs that Americans don't want. (And I'm not talking about migrant workers, which is obviously not the problem) Do they pay state and federal income taxes? Don't get me wrong many of these people work hard, but are a drain on the system if they don't pay income taxes, have healthcare coverage, learn the language or get paid wages that are in line with their American counterparts. We all know that the health care provided to uninsured illegals here in the states is being averaged into our hospital costs and our insurance premiums, which have proportionately increased along with illegal immigration over the last 20 years? But somehow both parties keep ignoring this. These costs are also being passed along to Medicaid and Medicare, which means that not only are they increasing our insurance premiums, but that we're paying for them again with our tax dollars. Our tax dollars and insurance premiums should not be used to recoup the cost of healthcare given to illegal aliens, who shouldn't even be here in our country in the first place.

Just look around and you'll see who's doing 90% of the residential renovations, construction and property maintenance jobs. That's certainly what we're seeing in the northeast. These are not just jobs that Americans don't want.

The hiring of cheap illegal labor causes a chain reaction. The contractors who hire cheap, uninsured, non-income-taxpaying, ILLEGAL aliens undercut the contractors who hire US Citizens or Legal immigrants. Even if the contractor wants to continue to employ US Citizens or Legal tax-paying immigrants, they end up replacing their Legal employees with illegals just to be able to get the work. Unfortunately unions and the old "that's not my job" union attitudes here in the USA have also contributed to this problem.

Also when these Non-income-tax-paying illegal Aliens take American Citizens jobs they also are taking away the income tax revenue that those working American Citizens would be providing to our government. In addition, the American Citizens who have their jobs taken away by these Illegal Aliens then have to be paid unemployment and usually have no healthcare insurance either because they can't afford COBRA, which adds even more to our deficit and further increases our healthcare costs.

Over the last 2-3 decades, our idiotic traitorous political "leaders" have been selling out the bulk of the American citizens, who they're supposed to represent, by allowing the incursion of illegal aliens (cheap labor) and the outsourcing floodgates to open wider and wider without taking any sensible measures to stem the tide.

I run a business that does it the right way and employs 20 US Citizens and 1 Legal Immigrant and I believe that the use of Workplace Raids is a perfectly realistic way to put a stop to this BS. Plus we should publish the results of these workplace raids and fines to the public, so American Citizens and customers could see which companies are employing illegals.

Let's get the good productive illegal immigrants into the system and paying federal and state income tax or get them out and NOT Let Any More Come In unless they come in as Legal Immigrants. Make them apply for legal visas and or U.S. citizenship and if they don't, then get them out. If they get rejected get them out or give them one quick appeal and if they still get rejected, then get them out. And let's send the bad ILLEGAL Aliens back to where they came in and let's STOP ANYMORE ILLEGAL ALIENS from getting in.

Any Illegal Aliens that are already in our jails, for crimes that they have committed in our country, should stay in our prisons until they have severed their sentences and then be deported immediately upon their release from prison.

We should immediately start using our military to Start Keeping ILLEGAL Aliens Out. Bring our troops home from the mindless Middle East and deploy them on our southern border. Let's use our troops here in the USA to Protect Our Country from the Incursion of Illegal Aliens here at Home, instead of keeping them in the Middle East, which is just going to continue to be a never ending region of stupidity and violence. We should also start hiring more of our unemployed veterans as additional border patrol officers, ICE and INS agents. Cause Lord knows, we need to do a better job of protecting our southern border and getting control of our illegal alien problem.

ps: Most illegal aliens are paid off the books and if they're employer says that they're deducting income tax they're lying. And the few that are being paid on the books, using fake IDs, claim a huge number of dependents, etc................ And could you or I get away with not filling income tax returns? And what about the ballsy ones that do file and claim a ridiculous amount of deductions to get big refunds. There are even sleazy accounts that specialize in helping them game the system.

The American People need Our Leaders to start remembering that they are elected by the Citizens of the United States of America to represent the interests of those citizens and the country itself and that They are NOT Elected By or To Represent Lobbyist, Foreign Citizens, the Global Marketplace (WTO, NAFTA, TPP) or Illegal Aliens.

Wouldn't it be More Productive if Our Elected Leaders Started Working Together as AMERICANS for AMERICANS and AMERICA, instead of just bickering, stalling and posturing for the next election as democrats and republicans/tea-whatevers! The American People have had it with this unproductive BS! The way that both parties having been operating for years just stinks! Neither party has really been looking out for the best interests of the US Citizens who elect them and who they're supposed to represent.

The American People need Loyal American Leaders who will stop selling us out to other countries like Communist China, India and Mexico.

Economic Fairness for the American People and the Real American Economy: It's called Tariffs, Tax Incentives for Repatriating Industries and American Jobs and Protecting Our Southern Border.

It's a no-brainer, the first priority is to secure our southern border and our military should absolutely be deployed to shut the floodgates that are allowing thousands upon thousands of unauthorized illegal aliens to continue to pour into our country!

For the last 25-years, our idiotic traitorous political "leaders" have been selling out the bulk of the American citizens, who they're supposed to represent, by allowing the incursion of illegal aliens (cheap labor) and the outsourcing floodgates to open wider and wider without taking any sensible measures to stem the tide.

This has gotten completely out of control and President Obama's "Plan" is waiting for a "recommendation" by the end of summer and throwing $3.7-billion at the problem? – What the heck? – Can't he figure this out for himself? – First it's $2-Billion, now it's $3.7-Billion. – This is just more empty talk and stupidity. – Why the hell do we need to wait until the end of the summer or need $3,700,000,000 dollars when we already have troops on the payroll? – It's a no-brainer, the first priority is to secure our southern border and our military should absolutely be deployed to shut the floodgates that are allowing thousands upon thousands of unauthorized illegal aliens to continue to pour into our country! – We don't need a "blue-ribbon-committee" or any other BS to figure this out.

The very first priority is to secure our border and then go from there.

With the impending "health hazard" of these immigrant children entering the school systems across the U.S., without any notice to local or state health departments, a potential pandemic is imminent? Why? Because as health care workers are "leaking information" about the condition of these kids – including being exposed to drug-resistant Tuberculosis, lice, scabies, and a devil's mix of other potential health hazards, it is evident that the U.S. President "could care less"!!!!

Obama is hardly a genius, however, if the GOP is only going to send morons like Perry to battle him, then prepare for another GOP Defeat. Texas has never been know for their "intelligence", however, Perry makes Palin look smart, and for the record; the librarian glasses made neither of them seem any less moronic than they prove to be when they open their mouths.
If you don't like Obama, then have a capable champion take up your cause, but please stop sending morons to battle him politically.

The GOP refuses to acknowledge any immigration process reform would require a process to alleviate illegal entry and facilitate legal entry by immigrants into the United States. The Texas National Guard does not possess the tools to do both. They (National Guard) only possess security guard qualifications thereby excluding any qualifications for adjudicating determinations to sort out illegal entry from legal entry for facilitation of legal deportation or illegal deportation. Immigration has been built upon a system of Federal Laws and not Military laws since the beginning of our Constitution. It was never excluded from Federal law and solely a component of Military law. So, why would a State National Guard unit be assigned to process Federal Immigration law ??? This GOP idea is not only lame. It's irrelevant. In addition to the irrelevancy of Rick Perry's suggestion. He forgets that Governor's of each State possess the authority to activate the National Guard within their own States. This remains a State right. So, why hasn't Rick Perry activated the Texas National Guard, himself ??? I would assume it is because he only remains dumb enough to suggest this idea instead of additionally dumb enough to facilitate it.
Republicans have been stupid about Immigration reform since day one due to their racist tendencies against Latinos. And any Latino who is Republican is between dumb and dumber.

Interesting how Maria Cardona this morning was arguing how Obama SHOULDN'T go to the border UNTIL it was pointed out other that Obama went on a Hurricane Sandy photo-op THEN and only THEN did she admit he SHOULD go to the border. All that after arguing that he should. All in the same interview.

♨Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s support for a law allowing illegal immigrants in
Texas to pay in-state tuition. Texas law a “magnet” for illegal
border-crossers, a taxpayer subsidy for lawbreakers and evidence that
Perry is not the unwavering conservative he appears to be.It is a line
of attack likely to continue as Perry struggles to defend his record on
immigration, an issue that has grown more emotional since he signed the
Texas DREAM Act in 2001. If you say that we should not educate children
who have come into our state for no other reason than they have been
brought there by no fault of their own, I don’t think you have a heart,”
    Perry said♨

The President received a boatload of money 6 years ago. Instead of spending it to strengthen our borders, he gave handouts to banks that were too big to fail, General Motors, and shovel ready construction projects. Obama should not receive another boatload of money until he secures our borders. If 50,000 children successfully penetrated our borders, terrorists face no resistance doing the same.

Randall, did you actually read the garbage you wrote before hitting the Post button??

Do a little Fact Checking and you will find out the TRUTH. That President Obama has done more for Security at our Border then any other President in History, also we have many more Border Security people working there then in any time in History. So would you like to quit being like Fox and quit misleading people to make your RWNJ's and yourself look like you really know what your talking about??? Thank You...

Just to clarify, the bailout was not just the government giving free money to the banks. It was a loan that prevented them from failing in order to stabilize the economy. Most of it has been paid back, and the US government is on set to profit substantially from it, if it has not already. A quick google search would give you a more up to date answer on how much has been paid back. Moreover, it was a plan supported by both McCain and Obama as a necessary relief, though each had different ideas about the logistics of it. It was also passed by Congress, not the President, so blame them if you want to blame anyone.
I also just want to add that securing our borders has never been about keeping terrorists out. Terrorism is a completely separate issue. If terrorists want to harm the US, they will. Just looking back to 9/11, all of those terrorists entered the country legally.

Paul Begala was a complete jerk to Gov. Perry- "tiny brain", using "small words", etc. That kind of below the belt and unnecessary insults only push people away from watching Crossfire. I gave it almost a year, but I simply cannot stand this show anymore. It's just full of snarky, rabidly partisan people, especially the hosts on the left. Van Jones of all of the Dems is perhaps the most fair, but Begala and Cutter each make me lose a small piece of my faith in humanity's future when I watch them. Enough with the attack dogs loosed from the Spin Rooms! Good luck with the show, CNN. You need it.

This is not a Humanitarian crisis; this is and INVASION period. There are 50 states and 50 governors and they should get together and call on their national defense and assign them to the boarde4s NOW. Simple solution , but we lack leadership even at the state levels. Both Democratic and Republican parties. Maybe we should put Obama in office for a third try. LOL

Sending troops to the boarder accomplishes nothing when the law that those troops have to enforce says that all unaccompanied minors from non-contiguous states must be allowed into the country.

These kids aren't illegals (at least not yet). They aren't sneaking in. They walk up to the border guards and are taken in because the law says that we have to. That law was passed unanimously in 2008. The issue isn't that these are illegals being caught in the US... but rather the law says they are legal refugees seeking asylum until a hearing declares they are otherwise (at which point they can be deported).

This isn't a border security issue from the standpoint of not having enough guards. Congress passed a law that lets them in and didn't give the president any leeway to administratively change the law (like he has with some other laws being passed).

Congress has to act to fix this. All the president can do is try to speed up the hearings and deportations by getting more courts and judges in place... but that costs money.

You have it backwards. We should legalize the drugs and stop fighting the drug war. That would eliminate the drug violence and gangs that are causing people to flee from these Central American countries.

Fact is Obumbles just isn't ready to lead. Constant lying, blaming every one else for his ineptness just isn't cutting it. Just one failure after another from the inept one. Legalizing drugs is not the solution. Voting in strong leadership (someone with a pair) is the solution.
