Cupp: Wasn't Romney right on Russia?

Crossfire host S.E. Cupp and Van Jones debate Hillary Clinton's recent comparison of Vladimir Putin to Hitler and Cupp asks why Democrats were making fun of Romney's warning to be worried about Russia.

Jones: Save the guacamole!
Van Jones is outraged about climate change possibly hindering Chipotle's guacamole production.

Cupp on girl suing parents: grow up!

S.E. Cupp is outraged that an 18 year old girl is suing her parents to pay for her college tuition.

Instead of pointing fingers, why not focus on the problem not the person, the behavior not a person. Our government is so entitled it will be impossible for the Dems or Repubs to please anyone. Our country has become a place where every person that cry’s is given a sucker. We have to stop this and get our nation back on track. We all want the same thing……..To be happy and safe. Let talk about where to start……How about that for a change?

Your Polls are garbage, it only reflects a chosen few and the way the questions are asked determines what Fox News wants you to think. Republicans are going to get a big surprise in 2014 elections because the rest of the world will never allow Republicans to ever get back in the White House again. Because, if they do i think the USA will completely collapse again and their will end up being another war within the country. Both Canadians and Americans lost lives and fought in the 40's-60's for rights for women and all human beings and now to watch a republican party try to remove those values is a disgusting and inhuman dictatorship. I have watched USA politics for over 40 years and i can honestly say THIS republican Party has done more damage to the country and other countries around the world in the last 10 years than ANY President ever has. for example, in states run by republican governors they are suppressing voters rights (unconstitutional). They are dictating what woman can and cannot do with their own bodies, They are literally taking food out of the mouths of children and lining their friends pockets in Congress with Farm subsidies which are guaranteed every year wether they farm or not( of course in the BILL they put in a clause where the American people will not be able to see who those people are). They are refusing people Medicaid and medicare expansions and people are literally dying because of it. They are LIARS, Racists, cheaters and they have stole from the American people for years and if anyone calls them out on it they blame the Media, I have learned over the years that if Republicans are saying that the other guy is doing a particular bad thing that it is a cover up for exactly what they are doing themselves. As President Bush said (we have him on video stating this) Just keep telling the lies over and over untill the American people believe them to be true. his words, not mine. So i have a challenge for all Republicans, RIGHT NOW, Practice what you preach and lets see how many of give up all support financially you get from the government. You all say you do not need the government programs so whats stopping you all from giving up Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid programs, subsidies for education, Food Stamps, Business programs and subsidies from the government, Healthcare, and so on and so on. You can do that RIGHT!!!! and Untill you make sure ALL republicans who preach about and want to tear down this government do this you will never be taken seriously. So, practice what you preach. Other wise you are just Dictators. And the biggest problem is when groups like yourself use RELIGION to divide and benefit your POCKETS, that is the worst SIN of all. So, i think you will see groups of people from around the world encourage every single American how important it is for them to ALL vote in the 2014 mid term elections so that they can get their country along with President Obama back to what it really can be instead of having people who have no concern for their own country or its people and would harm it the way you Republicans have done for over a century just because you cannot move into the 21st century.

It's obvious somebody or several people over the years have told you what you typed here. You certainly didn't get your info from any reliable source, because most of what you rant about is wrong. The Democrats have been in strong control in Congress for the last 50 years, so if there's hungry kids out there you better register your complaint with them, since they held the government purse strings. It was the Republicans who started theright to vote for women as well as the civil rights movement. It was Republicans who started the EPA, and so on.
See what I mean? You just don't know what you're talking about, and every word you type screams that out loud and clear. Instead of making an educated comment you come across as a dupe. Why don't you spend some time researching those things that bug you and find out what really happened.

Jesus would be ashamed of these people. I'm not saying Democrats are perfect, far from it, but at least their agenda is to help those in need with out judgement, is in defense of those who are defenseless and instead of ignoring global warming they want to prepare for it. As far as the environment goes, the Republicans want to profit off Gods great earth destroying it as they go. I call that total disrespect for Gods greatest gift to us, Earth. It's people like you that kept a remarkable man out of the White House. A Loser, you say? He has succeeded at every position he's held: Voted in as governor in the bluest state in the Union; took an all Democrat legislature and got them to vote in the first comprehensive health care program in the nation; took a failing and corrupt Winter Olympics and (with very little time) turned it into the greatest and most profitable Winter Olympics ever; took ailing and failing companies ant turned them around into profitable businesses, saving over 150,000 jobs; has always donated over 20% of his income to charity, unlike our President, who limped along at 5% until his office embarrassed him so much that he bumped it up to 10%; has a wonderful and loving family and grandchildren.
He failed at becoming president, but I wonder if things might have been different if the press had not given Obama 50 times (actual fact) more positive coverage than they gave Romney. I wonder if things might have been different had the people known the truth about Obamacare.... but in your eyes Romney is just a loser.

Russia is not exactly an enemy. They are more of a competitor (same goes for China). We have pretty much never ended up on the battlefield with either of them... but rather we compete for control of other areas, usually with both sides using proxies or through economic means... but occasionally with one side having a proxy while the other has a direct military presence.

While that's a small difference, I do think it's an important one to notice for a president. We aren't trying to "defeat" Russia or China. We don't want to wipe them out or destroy their government. We simply want to have more influence on the future of the world then they do.

This is why I view Putin's decision to use military force rather then economic pressure to get what he wants in the Ukraine as so misguided. He could have used natural gas supply to lean on the Ukraine and get everything he wants with nobody in the world having a problem. Instead, he used military force and lost standing in the international community because of it. He'll still get Crimea and possibly more of the Ukraine, but he ends up wasting 51 billion dollars spent on the Olympics, he'll likely lose Russias place in the G8 (which has a huge impact on controlling the world economy) and he may get sanctions from the US (which will mean little) and the EU (which will mean a LOT).

He's paying a high price for wanting to puff out his chest. Kind of like using your queen to take a pawn and then losing the queen when you could have taken the pawn with a pawn of your own.

The Ukraine still owes Russia for gas delivered, which the President instead of paying put in his own pocket. Russia did stop delivery of gas, guess you missed that part.

      March 8, 2014 at 9:37 am | Reply
      • kurt

They did not stop delivery of gas until after invading.

The point was that just using the leverage of the natural gas would give them whatever concessions they wanted from the Ukraine. The invasion was simply not necessary for Russia to get what they wanted.

        March 12, 2014 at 10:38 am |
      • kurt

Actually, in reading more I don't think Russia HAS stopped delivering natural gas to the Ukraine even post invasion. In 2009 they cutoff gas supplies because Ukraine was refusing to sign a new contract.

Russia pretty much got everything they wanted with that maneuver (they did give a short delay to the price increase going into effect so that the Ukraine could save face).

    • kurt

      Really... death panels again?

Okay... let me present the facts. Private insurance companies do have panels that can deny coverage. This exists in EVERY private insurance plan. They can deny your coverage for certain things because they believe your condition is such that spending money on it won't help you.

This wasn't added by Obamacare. This already existed in private insurance. Obamacare put RESTRICTIONS on what those panels could deny... which means the "death panels" could choose death for you LESS often because of the law. But what did happen is that because Obamacare relies on private insurance (rather then public insurance like many liberals would prefer), those "death panels" are in Obamacare.

But this isn't what Palin was referring to. What SHE Was refering to was a medicare provision which would pay physicians for voluntary counseling about living wills and end of life care options. Note that this means patients would ask for help with those options, and doctors could be reimbursed with spending their time letting them know about options.

BUT... what's even more stupid is this condition was removed before the law was voted on. YES, THAT'S RIGHT... it's not there. Palin was successful in removing payment for doctors providing end of life counseling for patients on medicare.

So we do have death panels... but rather then the made up ones Palin was talking about we have the real ones that exist in private insurance plans that are purchased over the exchanges... because we don't have a public option.

Funny how reality doesn't match perception.

        March 6, 2014 at 5:18 pm |
      • kurt

By "read it" what exactly are you talking about?

I've read the health care law and I've read Palin's explanations as to what she was talking about with death panels.

She was talking about what I referred to... the part that was changing medicare to pay doctors for end of life counseling. She has stated so many times publicly. And that part of the bill was REMOVED before it was passed.

I'm all for people having their own opinions. I'm open to changing my opinion if people give a good argument. But you can't make up stories and present them as fact. That's what the whole "death panel" thing was (and apparently still is since people like you are still talking about it).

It's fiction. Present an argument based on something that is factual and I'll entertain it. Make stuff up and I'll simply present the facts which show that you are incorrect.

        March 7, 2014 at 7:16 am |

"I've read the health care law and I've read Palin's explanations as to what she was talking about with death panels."

        March 8, 2014 at 10:15 am |
    • Tony

No, there are still no death panels. In fact, Obama is allowing everyone to keep his or her insurance plan for another year. The problem is, many insurance companies don't want to re-offer their canceled plans. Jeep wants to build new plants in China, but it is not moving any plant in America. IRS targeted both conservative and liberal political groups that wanted the 501(c)(4) designation, which is for social welfare groups only. There were 13 attacks on embassies during the Bush Administration, but you never hear Republicans talking about them. They just focus on Benghazi. Bush said that he and Putin were the best of the friends, way before Clinton's "reset" policy. Obama Administration is humming along just fine. Obamacare is still going, with more than 4 million people buying new private insurance plans, even though Republicans tried to repeal it for the 50th times. No wonder Putin does not have any respect for us. Congress is good at spinning its wheels and do nothing. You can keep your plan if you want it, but if insurance companies jack up your premiums, you still need to pay to keep it.

      • Tony

Look, Smitty, you may not believe this, but there is no statute of limitation for what Bush did. He did it, whatever it was, blah blah blah, then I can blame it on him. If Republicans have no problem blaming Clinton for her "reset" policy after she is out of the office, then I have no problem blaming Bush for what he did. And Bush did plenty.

Oh please, I know its got to suck for you. It always sucks when you get ripped off and that's what Obammy did to his followers. There is no defense for Obumbles, all I see from the blogs is Bush did this , Ike did that , the excuses for this pres ineptness get worse every day. When your pres gets biggest liar of the year you know hes a loser.

Romney won the 2012 Lie of the Year, when he was running for president. Republicans won two Lie of the Year in the first two years of the award– Sarah Palin won in 2009 for her "death panel" claim, and Republicans won in 2010 for their refrain that Obamacare is "a government takeover of health care." So what if Putin and Romney want to re-fight the Cold War. McCain wants to re-fight the Vietnam War. The Tea Party wants to re-fight the Civil War.

Have you forgotten Obama bigger lies....if you want to keep your health can period......if you want to keep your can period. The man has been a total liar from day one. If Obama is the best that we Americans can vote as president then we have really lost our way and senses. The man is a terrible leader and he is slowly but surely destroying our great country. I wonder what else is on his agenda??????
