$15/hour for minimum wage?

The U.S. economy added 288,000 jobs in April, the strongest month for job growth in two years, the Department of Labor said Friday. That number blew away economists' forecasts, and stocks rose following the news, although they have since fallen back.

The oft-quoted unemployment rate fell to 6.3%, down from 6.7% in March.

Also, today Mayor Ed Murray unveiled his proposal for a $15 minimum wage, a plan he said has broad support across the local government, business and labor communities.

Washington already has the nation's highest state-level minimum wage of $9.32. The Seattle proposal would be more than double the current federal minimum wage of $7.25.

Mayor Murray's plan would take effect over several years and apply first to some large businesses starting in 2017, and ultimately to all businesses by 2021. FULL STORY.

Is Obama leading the U.S. into a healthy economy? At 6:30pm ET on Crossfire, Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Rep. Andy Harris (R-CMD) go head-to-head in a debate joined by Newt Gingrich and Van Jones.
