Who's to blame for the shutdown?

JOIN THE LIVE BLOG

It's day two of the government shutdown. The president and Congress are finally starting to talk, but the stalemate over spending and Obamacare drags on.

Joining Van Jones and S.E. Cupp in the Crossfire at 6:30pm ET to debate are Emily Miller of the Washington Times and former Rep. Tom Perriello.

Perriello believes the government should be reopened with no strings attached, while Miller thinks Obamacare should be delayed before ending the shutdown.

hostage takers historically never come out winners
At the end, they get killed or put away
Obama has negotiated with the American Taliban for 5 years while they kept taking hostages to negotiate
2011 showed danger of playing this game, our credit rating dropped
Now after closing the government and damaging our economy already , lying and making false presentations
Being destructive and care nothing for us
    Like any other hostage taker
They shall not be let to come out of this with saved face

They had 6 months to go to conference and rejected 18 times

They should for once made an example of by you
    The media
    And likes of you
So they learn to get on doing the people's work and not just Koch Brothers'

don't give a flip what any polls say, I LOVE ACA! POTUS really does care, and because of him, my 21 year old athletic child has healthcare and I have some peace of mind that if she is injured, she will be treated right away, and not suffer as so many others have, in an emergency room. Look up, " person dies in emergency room waiting room" and you will see what I mean. Damn the Republican congressmen/women and their rich friends. They will NEVER languish for hours in an ER; they leave that for voters, "the little people".

All are wrong, both are wrong....any party affiliation should be left to birthday parties, wedding parties. I want new thinking, new ideals, new morals.....new bodies in the U.S government. New votes completely abolish parties, just men/woman who care for humabs, not their pocketbooks or payoffs.

You're so naïve, but I'll support your Quixotic quest for reason among our corrupt politicos and a media that is willing to proclaim, "The Emperor has no clothes!" Remember the days when the media was focused on high-integrity journalism that provided useful information, even knowledge, instead of heat- and profit-generating polarizing controversy led by the Idiocracy and the Plutocracy. This government of th people, by the Plutocracy and for the very, very rich. The media needs to be profitable too...

This is not "both parties" it is one party. A minority in one party does not like that they cannot legally do what they want to do which is overturn Obamacare because they do not control the Senate and Presidency. If you want to overturn a law, you need enough votes in Congress which they do not have. So, instead of doing it the right way through elections and passing laws, they are instead holding the entire nation hostage by trying to defund Obamacare in an ordinary spending/budget bill. By refusing to pass a regular spending/budget bill, they have shut down the government to try to impose their minority views and force Obamacare concessions from the majority. And they are hurting our economy by doing so.

The Democrats should not have to "negotiate" with hostage takers. Republicans: do it the right way by winning elections. If you want to change a law, re-take the Senate and Presidency.

You did not win! You have no right to try to hold the country hostage over not winning. You are circumnavigating government and trying to impose your will through hurting the American people. You have no idea how to properly and responsibly govern.

The Plutocracy, the Tenth of One Percenters, rules both parties, essentially all three branches of the federal government and many of the statehouses.

This is totally the Democrats fault, and I'm an Independent! Very clear this is the Democrats twisting the media to their will. I cannot believe the Media is so owned by the Democrat party – much like the USSR controlling state-run media.

What happened to the integrity of the American Media? What happened?

      ABSOLUTELY 100% AGREE with you!!
What is going on with the media that it is SO left sided?? Majority of the public opinion is opposing the democrats. The majority of comments made on every platform that I've read confirms this. Where are these "so called polls" that the media are using as statistics?? I've tried finding polls to participate in them and I'm convinced they've been manipulated by the media. What happened to impartial reporting? The media is controlled by the president. Thats why.
Why isn't the government addressing the issues with our finances?? The media should be paying attention to the fact that our US Dollar is losing its value and soon will NOT be the world reserve currency. When that happens...this country is screwed. We can't keep printing money to repay our debts. The government needs to figure this out before its too late. Not just until Obama's term is over.

Almost all of the TV, radio, newspaper media have been owned by rich Plutocrats for decades. Now, they own the federal government and most statehouses as well. Liberals – definition: open minded – hold an insignificant portion. The Ultra Wrong who follow the unfair and unbalanced media such as Faux News have been gullible for decades, often voting against their own self-interest, but supporting the sucking up of taxpayers' assets by the Plutocracy, the One Percenters, who squirrel away their ill-gotten gains of trillions of dollar in tax-free foreign bank accounts. Just ask "Magical Myth" Romney (of Romneycare fame) who has "legally" squirreled away millions of tax-free dollars in foreign bank accounts. Sucker!

I cannot believe, and am completely disgusted, that people are using the words "terrorism, anarchists, Jihad" etc. so freely against other Americans (I am not even sure they know what Jihad means). Is there no shame? We are starting to see the negative consequences of our country becoming more and more a Democracy instead of staying a Republic. Common decency, respect, and honesty needs to become a tenant that our politicians and our media should come to covet. Sadly, I don't see this becoming reality, just a dream.

I absolutely blame Obama and all of his puppets. The fact is that Obamacare is the biggest tax in US history and it's not being implemented because our president cares about individuals. It's about money and power. Most Americans being effected by this are seeing triple the premiums, much higher deductibles and less coverage. In fact, there are 10 states where most people won't even be allowed to keep the plan they currently have even if they could afford it. Leading health insurance companies are pulling out of these states and won't offer plans in the exchange. How does it make sense and not to mention completely unconstitutional that the president can mandate and force the people to pay for something or be fined. Especially when for the majority, those kinds of expenses aren't feasible. Are they the ones that have to be sacrificed because our government has turned into a dictatorship? I can think of a few other "leaders" like that......
I absolutely regret voting for this man in the beginning. I certainly didn't the second time around. If we keep going down this path and America doesn't get its butt in gear, its going to become a third world country. Thank goodness for the republicans. Our fore fathers placed these types of protocols in place to protect the people from the government and that's EXACTLY what the republicans are doing.

Like Faux News, follow the Palin Rule: "If you don't know something, just make it up!"

The biggest tax on the American public has been the lost tax related to the mortgage-interest deduction. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac funnel hundreds of billions of dollars per year to the Wall Street Casinos who bet on toxic mortgage-pool derivatives; provide phony, but profitable insurance by AIG; suck in pension funds with triple-A ratings by Moody's (owned by Warren Buffett), Standard & Poor's and Fitch; then get the federal government to cover their losses at full value using taxpayer funds. Talk about entitlement! All of this financial house-of-cards continues to operate to the benefit of the Plutocracy, the super rich who run this country by corrupting the federal and state governments.

Democrats are to blame–the complete failure of the Democrats to engage in dialogue, the willingness to descend into hate speech at every opportunity, and the failure to even acknowledge valid concerns that have been raised time and time again–has left the opposition without alternatives but this. And by democrats that includes the majority of the irresponsible media that can't be bothered to do any real reporting anymore.

Its like how Minnie Mouse said it, these people have no FREE PASS to change our laws. The Supreme Court passed Obamacare, and they are on the absolute highest level in our government, and yes I'll say it again, THEY PASSED OBAMACARE. I hope it slaps the Republicans in the face that you can't change our laws when they have ALREADY BEEN SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT!

What you have stated makes the point very well. You have demonstrated exactly where your "two" elected representatives stand. When there is NO room for compromise, then it is a stalemate. At this point it is better to be a humble leader than an arrogant one and have a whole nation suffer. How much more would be gained if the Dems allow the ACA to slide for 1 year and have the public 100% behind them? At this time, the law has too many questions. A civil society looks for civil solutions. By citing Minnie/Mickey Mouse- it really says a lot about your rebuttal.

The problem is, everyone, including you, knows that the "Passing" of Obamacare in the Congress was done through trickery and lies. Even Senator Pelosi (a leading Democrat) said, "We need to pass this thing just to see what's in it!"

The Supreme Court passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, Americare, actually Romneycare, that Obama has accepted to be named with a laugh? Most of us real Americans thought that the PP & ACA was passed by Congress, duly-elected legislative representatives in the government of the people, by the Plutocrats and for the very, very rich – making it Americare. Obama had next to nothing to do with writing the PP & ACA, but he'll take the credit. Tens of millions of people will also benefit from Obamacare, just what the Plutocracy abhors. "Let them [the Pee-Ons] eat cake! Then, let them die."

Those referencing that ACA is the Law -need to be reminded Laws can be changed. Throughout history many Laws have been changed. The ACA is in its embryo stage. There are flaws. There are already exemptions, and delays for some. Technically, here are some glitches. Why can't the Law be deferred for 1 year in order to give ALL citizens an opportunity to further explore the ACA's long term implications? There is no right or wrong here. I think that the American public have lost their sense of direction and should abandon both the Dems and Reps. There is a new dawn ahead. Seek out an alternative and go for it.

The PP & ACA has barely gotten started. Many of those in opposition are making dire predictions of things that haven't happened and are extremely unlikely to happen. One woman was interviewed who supported the ACA, but opposed Obamacare. Another claimed that gun control would be an extension of Obamacare. Many still refer to death panels.

The real impetus comes from the profiteering, super-rich Plutocracy who couldn't care less whether the Pee-Ons live or die. They want their entitlements to taxpayer funds to fully cover their gambling losses in the Wall Street Casinos, but want to dismantle Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security – all of which have been self-funding since a few years after they were started except for the embezzlement by Congress with IOUs they never intend to repay. Who entices the Congress into this profligate embezzlement? Why, the Plutocracy, of course, funneling billions through their minion lobbyists to Congressional "campaign funds" (wink, wink).

To start off if the government is going to stay shut down, then I'd like my taxes back in the form of a refund check. If the government is going to hold the "American Economy Ransom", then I believe every American should demand a refund. Look the people put you in this position to lead the country, and if the government can't service the people for what we pay our taxes for I think we deserve a refund. I also believe most of the blame goes on the shoulders of the leaders,of the Democrat and Republican parties. I was taught, I don't know about you, that no matter the circumstances that may arise if you have a major deadline coming up,you make the deadline. For failure to do so would result in you possibly being fired for the consequences it renders. This government in a bipartisan agreement to not agree on anything has allowed, the people of this country to potentially suffer unnecessary hardships. Makes your wonder who they serve first, the People who elected them, or their own psychotic ambitions. Let me be clear, are there a lot of Democrats and Republicans who disagree with the shut-down, yes and do they fight for what many Americans elected them for in the first place? Of course, but as leaders of this country and the people in it you have the obligation to conduct yourself professionally and responsibly by coming to an agreement on issues which effect the whole country. I really hope that the public has kept a watchful eye on these past few moments in our countries great history, and I hope that they can see the shame in all of this. We pride ourselves, on being the greatest democracy in the world but our leaders who we elect can't compromise on many issues that effect each and everyone of you reading this right now. Its very disappointing.

Before even visiting their new offices, new Members of Congress are all taken on a tour of the lobbyists, their new masters and writers of the law. The ubiquitous bribery begins immediately. In recent years, this abominable behavior is no longer even kept secret – it's blatant and in-your-face with no shame whatsoever. They cannot be stopped.

Everyone who partakes in the government is to blame for the shutdown. All of the elected officials that represent our states and country, including the president of the US. The government is run by all of you!

You have no right trying to blame a law that was passed in 2010 for the governments financial problem. Americans need health care who don't have it because they cannot afford it and there is no excuse whatsoever to be denying infants, toddlers, children, youth, adults, seniors and veterans care, regardless to what sex or race anyone its! The creators of the law "Pre-existing" have put millions of families into terrible positions, like bankruptcy and some people have even died because they could not get the care needed. The "Affordable Care Act" passed as "Constitutional" and has solved many problems for millions of Americans. Thousands of children are already benefiting from the law ect...

You have no right to continue on, squabble, fuss or do anything to dismantle a law that was passed by the "Supreme Court". This is the law, so get over it and abide by it like everyone else has to and businesses you needed to be doing the same. Why should we as individuals care if you don't have the finances to provide for 50 or more employees because that's your problem. We all have to purchase insurance whether we like it or not. Do you see us asking for an extensions??? We all have to figure it out, just like all of the businesses need to as well.

Your not excluded by the law, because you were 100% included in this law in 2010 and you get no "FREE PASS" in 2014 just like the rest of us don't either as individuals. The Supreme Court ruled and this included businesses and individuals. As a business of 50 or more employees you are to abide by the same law as everyone else. You don't provide for your 50 or more employees insurance, then you get fined just like everyone else who doesn't purchase insurance.

It doesn't matter who gave you the special provisions for one year because, it's cannot happen because the "Supreme Court" never ruled businesses as and exclusions you were ruled as an inclusions!!!! You are 100% as a business included in this law to start providing insurance January 1, 2014 and fined just like everyone else in this country and as an individual who would also be fined if we don't have health care. What the Republicans are saying is right, you can't year one a year extension and make the others follow the law. Everyone abides by the law and it starts January 1, 2014. Either you provide or buy or pay a fine!!! It is what it is and that is exactly how the Constitutional law was passed in 2010.

Our government is wasting tax payers money on ridiculous things, all the time to where it up to nearly a trillion dollars. So all of you can't sit in front of the cameras and keep telling the people of the US that the only thing that is holding you back from creating a clean spending bill is that Obamacare has to be repealed, replaced or defunded until you do something to keep our government running. The government will never open anytime soon!!!! This law is not going to change, it's in place and it's been working since 2010. The law is the law, whether you like it or not.

Move on and find other things to 100% cut, delete, defund, whatever the case maybe. You have no clue how many lives you are effecting just because you hate one law. Get over it!!! In Arkansas where I live, there are 300 special needs babies that can't even get the baby formula that they need because the government is cutting them off. How do you tell an infant, sorry I can't help you. These are innocent children, and so is the rest of the country that you are effecting.

You people have no clue how much damage you have caused and continuing to cause. It's like you don't even care.

Why would anyone in this country care enough to want to vote anymore??? " Enough is Enough"

Do your job by making simple negotiations and yes that would include all of you talking, and not just a few of you all to get our government back and running. Keep "The Affordable Care Act" out of it, 100% off the table or you are never going to solve anything. Stay out of other countries, when our own country is in dire need!!

America is the focus, and focus and think about all of the problems that are going on with everyone that could of all 100% been avoided. You spent over 40 times voting on the same thing, to repeal, replace and defund. No means no, so stop wasting your time and everyone else's dollars, which includes the government and the tax payers on something that you know is inevitable and know it's costing the entire country. It is not worth it!!!!!!

Kids can't get medical care needed, babies can't be feed, parents with out pay ect.... this is BS!!!

You're right! It's the government of the people, by the Plutocracy and for the very, very rich. There are too many voters like Joe the Plumber who never made $50,000 a year in his life and more than two years behind in his income taxes, yet was worried about the Plutocrats who actually report their income having an increase of 3.6% in their top brackets, an effective increase of 0.1%. Then, we know that the smarter Plutocrats have dozens of tax minions who have created legal loopholes with assistance from Congress to avoid (legal) taxes that would be evasion (illegal) to the less wealthy. Funny how there has been a high correlation between higher taxes on the wealthy and better economies over the past century. Funny how those who claim to be the "job creators" are actually very effective job destroyers in their single-minded pursuit of profits and growing their tax-free foreign bank accounts. Just ask "Magical Myth" Romney (of Romneycare) why he squirrels away hundreds of millions of dollars in tax-free foreign bank accounts. As he says, it's all "legal" (to the super rich and powerful who are above the law).

I've not been a fan of Obama or the PPACA... but that said, it was passed into law. It was signed by the president. It was challenged in the supreme court. It has met all of those tests and passed. If the law is as bad as the republicans claim it may be then LET IT THROUGH. It will ensure they win the next 3 election cycles and once they win the house and senate they can EASILY repeal it or worst case repeal it in 2016. If the democrats are right that it's a good law that will help people then they'll likely win re-election... the shutdown makes it look like the republicans are more afraid that the democrats are right than they are confident it's a bad law... and on top of that it makes this whole ordeal reek of an attempt to subvert the system in a non-democratic way. This is now how a democratic country behaves... of course neither is the NSA spying... bailling the banks out... etc... so maybe this is the new america, land of the indentured and home of the watched.

Last night, Newt Gingrich had the idiocy to compare the Republican Shutdown of the Government over Obamacare to Hillary Clinton changing her mind about having voted for the Iraq War. Mind you, his comparison was not that she tried to shut down the government over her change of mind, but simply that she changed her mind. Never mind that the Iraq War cost the lives of thousand of soldiers, tens of thousands of civilians, and trillions in debt which Republicans now blame on Obama compared to a program that provides affordable healthcare to 30 million people.

I would say this demonstrates that in addition to being a serial liar (no to mention he's obese), clearly he is also an idiot. Once again, so long as he is on CNN I will have CNN turned off.

What scares me most is knowing that the person who holds the position second in succession to the presidency allows himself to be so blatantly manipulated by a right wing faction in his own party. The office of Speaker of the House should be held by one who commands the respect of his or her constituents. He or she is not a follower of the office, but the leader. I think "the American People" would respect Speaker Boehner more if he took a bold stand on what he believes is right, even at the risk of losing his position.

The Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act (PP & AFA) almost entirely written and passed by Congress is a simple translation from Romneycare and is properly labeled Americare. Obama was a little reluctant to take the eponymous naming of Obamacare, but was nice enough to finally say, "Okay! I'll take the credit if Romney won't."

I was greatly amused by the woman interviewed on TV: "I love the Affordable Care Act, but I hate Obamacare!"

Glenn Beck has been nominated repeatedly for the Top-Ten List of World's Greatest Bloviating Idiots. Even self-admitted bloviator Bill O'Reilly is not near the top and wants his tombstone to be carved with, "He finally stopped talking!"

We should have compassion since we all know that Beck succumbed to a horrible case of the Stupid Virus when he was a kid and was left near brain-dead, while his tongue still functioned. We shouldn't label him a blathering idiot. At least he talks to God. (He doesn't talk "with" God, nor does he listen "to" God, but some being or other-worldly voice communicates with him.)

Republicans are to blame. There is a time and a place, Goverment shutdown is not it. President Obama was elected, re-elected and "Obamacare" is law. Use the electoral process in the right time and place. In time, Congress needs to be replaced, this is absolute total nonsense.

To be honest I don't really care who is the blame I just want to go back to work. I already don't make enough money so I depend on my income. Who ever thought it was a good idea to shut down government wasn't thinking about Americans. I know us federal employees are a small part of the population but we do matter.

Yes, federal and other government workers do matter and are as hard working citizens as everyone else. I'm not a government worker, but demeaning our goverment workers is despicable! The ones that need to be fired are the government representatives of the people, by the Plutocracy and for the very, very rich. To bad that the Plutocracy won this war a long time ago. We just need to resign ourselves to becoming one of the millions of Pee-Ons destined to continue to bow down to the Tenth of One Percenters who now control this country.

The Republocons are to blame. They have hijacked the Republican party and shut down the government. The Affordable Care Act is already the law of the land. The Republocons should look forward instead of trying to unlaw a law through extortion like spoled children. What if the President said "We are not going to pass a budget unless you
raise more taxes and pass legislation to ban assault rifles right now"? That would be just as stupid.

Ms. Cupp and Ms. Miller don't seem to realize the purpose and meaning of a Continuing Resolution. It's purpose is simply to continue the funding of the government until budget negotiations begin, not to argue a budget or an existing law. Those arguments occur after the CR, while the country is moving forward in taking care of its daily requirements/responsibilities. And, isn't it peculiar that people who have money to buy health insurance, or have employers who pay for their health insurance, are totally unaware of the millions of people that actually need the Affordable Care Act. They're quick to say that the American public doesn't want the Affordable Care Act........well the public they live in is entirely different than the public I live in.

Shut down the entire FAA to effect business CEO's from air travel. Shut down the entire State Department to prevent any internal travel by business CEO's. Shut down the entire Justice department to stop all legal actions by corporations and CEO's. Shut down the entire SEC and require the NYSE and NASDAQ be closed. If the large corporations and business cannot travel or trade, the results will be felt by all of the American people.

I just listened to the cross fire debate. There was nothing accomplished there either. President Obama SHOVED the affordable care act down congress' throats. Making deals. If affordable care is so great why isn't Congress forced to use it. The entire plan is confusing. No one really knows what they are supposed to do,
When asked the average american (using on the street interviews) doesn't have a clue how it works all they know is that it will give them insurance. At what cost isn't clear. Now we had health care for all utilizing medicaid. Why wasn't that program improved upon? Why can' t Americans pay taxes to support Medicaid type program instead of creating a confusing and ill thought plan. That being said I don't think throwing the baby out with the bath water is a good idea either. Putting people out of work in an economy that is already struggling. is idiotic. Why should people working for the government such as civil service be the ones to pay the price for congress' sins. Congress has made themselves an elitist group which goes against what this nation is supposed to stand for! Grow up congress stop and start really listening to your constituents instead of finding new ways to grand stand and fill your personal coffers!

Calm down. Everything's under control. The government of the people, by the Plutocracy and for the very, very rich is well established. The Class War between the Plutocrats and the Pee-Ons was ended years ago. The Plutocrats are ENTITLED to feed from the taxpayers' trough to cover their gambling losses involving crap mortgage-backed financial derivatives with phony insurance in the Wall Street Casinos. The Pee-Ons are being weaned from the safety net as Social Security and Medicare – self funded except for embezzlement by Congress as representatives of the One Percenters – and SNAP are decimated. "Let them [the Pee-Ons] eat cake, then let them die." You know what we can do with healthcare – expand the cemetaries.

Actually the best way to solve this is to not pay any of the the congressmen until they have a compromise and if they are trying to pass something that affects mosts people then they should believe in it so much that they are willing to take what they are voting on themselves. If it is good enough for them then I will look at it.

name me all the times that the Democrats have actually negotiated. I challenge you to actually poll how many times the democrats have said they will not negotiate It is not the way of the United States of America and our president is deplorable when he starts peevishly calling names when he doesn't get his way. That is not a Democratic process. I challenge you also to come up with a ratio of how many times the Democrats have come up with a budget vs. how many times the GOP have come up with one.

Yeah, that dumb President who just wants to run the country with a simple, straightforward budget. Maybe every time there is a new Congress, we should put up all of the existing laws up for a revote. That would be a great way to bring the government to its knees.

So, you want an intelligent discussion? Why don't you start? We're waiting... We're waiting...

I just watched the new crossfire show for the first time, and find some of those on the show very high schoolish-college type debating. I had watched the earlier Crossfire in the 1990s, and found the format helpful in rehab of my brain injury, where I was able to get repetition of stories & discussion critical to relearning post injury. Having survived what I have now, I view so much of what I see from political leaders as juvenile. I would hope that CNN & Crossfire does not fall victim to the same demise.

Who are those women? So pretty faces are suppose to be enough. Where is logic? Why should there be negotiation on Obama Care. The house has voted 40+ times on Obama Care and it is still the law of the land. They are always quoting the majority of Americans do not want Obama Care. Remember they also thought Obama was not going to be President again, based on their surveys. Perhaps they need to survey more communities not just the one redrawn to win an election. Work to make it better as even the President has suggested but, to close down the government and to come back and suggest that it isn't fair to not pass an amendment to open the parks but, it is ok to send many people home. Shame on you.

I am so tired of hearing the arguments about who is to blame for the shutdown. Why can't ALL of our elected officials admit that the are to blame. They are holding 800,000 federal workers as hostages. These people need their paychecks to survive. They are not rich like the elected officials. I think it is time for our elected officials to volunteer their time. I do know that I have already deciided how I will vote in future elections. My goal is to get all of our incumbents out of office. They have proven that they do not care about the American people. I certainly want any members of the Tea Party republicans out of office.

I agree, they are all to blame. TEA Party affiliated politicians are not the enemy, nor are they anarchists as many have called them these days. I plead to everyone to stop listening to only liberal/progressive media; TEA Party people (and I am not one) believe in a small government and the Constitution, the Constitution lays the foundation to a small government, this is contrary to Anarchy and actually contrary to where we are today (thanks to liberals/progressives such as Woodrow Wilson and FDR). Anyway, this day in age, when opinion news is generally accepted, you have to filter the opinion and get information/facts from many sources in order to make an informed decision..and sometimes even then you don't have clear facts because the biases and opinions are so strong. Our journalists nowadays are letting the public down in a terrifying way. Furthermore, this country is a Republic and for good reason, but it seems it is becoming a Democracy more and more each day; also terrifying. Voters need to do one thing, they need to run in the other direction when a person is a "career politician". The politicians are so well paid these days, their livelihoods are dependent on the votes they garner for re-election. This means that this type of politician will say and do just about anything to get re-elected...not a good thing. When you have people like Harry Reid, who was a mediocre lawyer before getting a seat in the Senate, becoming millionaires while in service, you have to ask yourself how??? Term limits for our Congress is the only way to correct this unless the general public become more engaged; which will never happen, especially since opinion journalism so widely accepted throughout our society. Another opinion of mine is on the Senate. The Senate should only worry about one thing...their State's interests, nothing more; but this is not the case these days...they are always pandering to the people to get the votes they require to stay in office, feed their egos, and keep their lifestyles. I say, repeal the 17th amendment, which was one of the key historical actions/factors that started our sacred country moving from a Republic to a Democracy. In other words, service in Congress was never meant to be a career and shouldn't be thought of as a career.

Right! It's time to acknowledge the supremacy of the Idiocracy! After all the members of the More-On Party (MOP) have a right to be represented too even if the Party Of Stupidity & Hypocriscy (POSH) ignores them to favor the interests of the Plutocracy, the One Tenth of One Percenters who actually rule this country!

We had Joe the Plumber who never made over $50,000 a year in his life and was years behind in his taxes and bemoaned the idea of raising the top tax bracket on the rich by 3.6%, effectively a 0.1% overall increase. Now, we have Chrystal the Nail Salon Gal who one day dreams of marrying into the Plutocracy so she too can count her growing tax-free funds in foreign bank accounts.
